2013 Charlotte HomeArama in Cheval Equestrian Community

The 2013 HomeArama is being held in Mint Hill’s Cheval. Cheval is an equestrian friendly community on 423 acres with home sites ranging in size from a half acre to over five acres. This year’s homebuilders include: Arthur Rutenburg Homes, Bellamy Homes, Classica Homes, Evans Coghill Homes and Grandfather Homes. The six furnished homes on tour this years range from $550,000 to over $940,000. The event runs from Saturday, November 9th through November 24th (except Mondays). Tickets can be purchased at www.ChevalNC.com for $12 for adults or at the gate for $15 for adults. Children under 12 are free.

Charlotte Home Design Trends

So what are the Charlotte home trends this year? A blockbuster trend is space that allows for flexibility in lifestyles. Classica Homes has a multi-generational suite called Flex-Gen. The space provides a private living space complete with bedroom, bathroom and mini kitchen.

Other homebuilders are offering guest suites on main level to accommodate changing lifestyles. Other Charlotte home trends include large living areas with little or no formal spaces, lots of natural lighting, homes with multiple outdoor areas (living, eating, fire place/pit) and open lofts instead of a closed off bonus room. Evans Coghill even has a “Kindle Loft” which is a small loft area upstairs that can be used for work/study/reading. Outdoor living spaces are not screened -- except for a retractable screen at Evans Coghill’s house. Kitchens are open to the living spaces with large islands. Granddfather Home’s home features two kitchens – one for prep work and one for entertaining. Another fabulous feature is a second washer and dryer in the master closet.

Charlotte Homebuilder Decorating Trends

Decorating trends…grey is the color of choice this year. Grey walls and dark grey kitchen cabinets are popular. Classica Homes has a take home card with links to find the color selections used in their two homes. Pops of color ranged from red to turquoise. A favorite decorating trends of mine is coming back – wallpaper. Neutral patterned, very subtle wall paper is used in several homes.

Whether you are looking for design ideas like floor plans, buildings materials, outdoor living space and landscaping to decorating inspiration with paint colors, accessories, art and furniture you don’t want to miss this year’s HomeArama. The Home Builder’s Association has done an outstanding job choosing a beautiful setting in Cheval to showcase some of Charlotte premier builders.
