Covid 19 Charlotte - Restaurant Food During Stay at Home
This will be just one of more to come blogs about resources during North Carolina's Stay at Home. My heart aches for the many restaurant owners, small businesses and their emplyoees during this time. My family has tried to support our local places during this time as restaurants and retail stores that offer food and beverage are able to stay open. I am amazed at how hard some of our favorite places are working to make money during this time. We live in Matthews so I want to give a shout out to some places nearby me.
The Loyalist is a local cheese and charcuterie shop. They found themsleves quickly without being able to exist as normal and local school children needing food. They set up a GoFund me page and within days had a network of restaurants all over town feeding hundreds of local CMS children daily. They are also open for take out during this time. Check out their MENU on the website and what they are doing on facebook to see how you can support them.
Another favorite place of ours is Sante in downtown Matthews. Chef Owner Adam Reed and his wife have been so ingenious as selling coffee, breakfast items, baked goods, packaged goods and even meats straight from their distributor on Saturday mornings 8-11. As always the items are amazing and even more impressive is their hard work and willingness to do what it takes during this time and take care of their staff. Chef also set up a reflief GoFund me to help support his loyal staff. The restaurant is also offering food takeout in the evenings. Check out his facebook page where he posts his specials.
Ever had coffee brought to your neighborhood or on the Greenway? You can if you follow Good Cup Cafe at goodcup on instagram or their facebook page. Another local Matthews establishment (they actually share space with The Loyalist in the mornings before The Loyalist opens), the Good Cup brews specialty coffee drinks and can be found Saturday mornings at the Matthews Farmers Market too.
I've got to give kuddos to Matthews based Your Mom's Donuts. This local donut shop has become a resource to purchase all things local from her donuts and cinamon rolls to fresh meats, prepared foods, pantry items, local produce, coffee, flowers to body care items. This novel idea is keeping local growers and producers busy while shoppers can not only support local, but avoid crowded stores. See the order form on their website to see a pick up site near you.
Of course there are others in my neck of the woods offering takeout -- The Portrait Gallery, Sea Board (pizza), Pizza Peel, Moes, Deep Sea, The Black Chicken, El Valle and Thai Taste to name a few. In this Covid 19 time, we realize we can't help everyone so we did choose to make a difference for a few and hope our local patronage can make a difference. We are all doing our part as #weareallinthistogether.
