It's Pumpkin Picking TIme in Charlotte!
Fall is in full swing here in Charlotte. The leaves have started to change, the air is crisper and you can smell burning campfires at night. One of my favorite things to do during this season is visit a pumpkin patch with different fall activities. Even though COVID-19 has thrown a wrench into a lot of our plans, there are still a few places in and around the area to pick out the perfect pumpkin for carving in a socially-distanced manner.
Here is a list below of a few fun, fall destinations to visit this month before it gets too cold:
Aw Shucks! Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch
3718 Plyler Mill Rd, Monroe
Aw Shucks is great for all ages. Right now, they are offering attractions such as mazes, an animal barn, pumpkin bowling and a few others. Reservations are not required, and prices are $11 for adults and $9 for children. Excited to visit? This season, Aw Shucks will only be open during the weekend, so make sure to plan accordingly.
1650 Filbert Highway, York, SC
Did you know Bush-N-Vine does more than just grow fresh fruits and vegetables? Although the farm will not be offering hayrides this year due to COVID-19, they will be offering other fun, fall activities. You can expect pumpkin picking, an observation bee hive and a hiking trail to see the land. This is a great place to pick your pumpkins for carving, but make sure to go during the day before the pumpkin patch closes at 5 p.m..
1261 Oak Ridge Farm Highway, Mooresville
During daylight, this is a great place to pick pumpkins and walk around the farm, but make sure to make a reservation on their website beforehand. A hayride will take you directly to the pumpkin patch where you can snag your favorite pumpkin right off the vine.
By nightfall, the 170-acre-farm is transformed into a haunted trail, full of terror. I recommend leaving the kids at home for this one. Reservations can also be made online.
1922 Oakdale Rd. Rock Hill, SC
Cherry Place Farm is a great place to take younger children. During October, they are only open on Saturdays and Sundays. Pumpkins at Cherry Place Farm are $8 and are perfect for carving. The farm also has other fall activities like a corn maze, hayrides, a petting zoo, barnyard activities and a self-guided tour of the farm.
4701 Hartis Road, Indian Trail
Wise Acres is great for children and adults. Reservations during the weekend at Wise Acres farms involve fun fall activities and pizza. Yes, you heard that right - pizza. For $25 for two Wise Pie Pizzas and admission fees, you can spend two hours on the farm. Activities include wagon rides, walks through the mazes and pumpkin patch, a scavenger hunt and others. Plus, you can enjoy your pizza picnic in a cool shaded area.
