Ballantyne Homes for Sale | Subdivisions Houses
Twenty years ago Ballantyne exploded on the scene in South Charlotte as a "showcase" master-planned development on 2,000 acres of South Charlotte property. Good timing, wondrous design, prime location & strict quality control made it an instant magnet for both local & newcomers moving to Charlotte. The Ballantyne homes for sale are often the ones newcomers want to see first.
And the inclusion of the 535 acre Ballantyne Corporate Park, plus Interstate access to Charlotte Uptown & Charlotte Douglas International Airport, assured a fast growing population – with a heavy business orientation.
While “upscale and exclusive” seems to describe Ballantyne homes best – they are available to all. Ballantyne boasts some of Charlotte’s finest subdivisions & most expensive homes – but it also offers a wide range of Ballantyne homes & communities - plus condos & apartments - at many price points.
Ballantyne homes for sale...
..include luxury homes, executive homes, family homes, new homes, golf course homes and gated community homes. Only Charlotte lake homes are missing…and they are available at nearby Lake Wylie & Lake Norman.

The many fine subdivisions of Ballantyne are set back from major streets - providing privacy, security & serenity for homeowners. The flagship subdivision is Ballantyne Country Club…no argument!
However, Ballantyne has a variety of subdivisions that are a notch above, such as Vineyard, Kensington at Ballantyne , Highgrove, Allyson Park, Bridgehampton, Balmoral Park, Bexley At Ballantyne and Amber Leigh.
Ballantyne real estate growth has provided a stimulus for residential development throughout all of South Charlotte...and into Union County, York County and Lancaster County. Today’s “hot bed” of growth is along US Highway 521, from Ballantyne into the Fort Mill & Indian Land areas of South Carolina.
Ballantyne Schools :: Ballantyne Elementary School
Public Ballantyne schools are widely considered some of the best in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS). All schools are fairly new with a motivated staff…constantly challenged by active & concerned parents. The elementary schools consist of:
- Ballantyne Elementary
- Hawk Ridge Elementary
- Elon Park. Elementary
All of the Ballantyne elementary schools combine into Community House Middle School.
The high school for the area is Ardrey Kell High School, which takes in most of the Community House graduates, plus some students from Jay M. Robinson Middle School and South Charlotte Middle School.
All Ballantyne home buyers with children in school are advised to conduct their own research into potential schools before making an Offer to Purchase. This should include a visit to the school(s), in addition an analysis of all available information. The NC School Report Card provides an excellent picture of a school’s ranking in the state and district.
