Dilworth Homes for Sale

For historic Charlotte homes, Dilworth homes are frequent choices…in one of the city’s oldest and most scenic neighborhood. The development of this original "streetcar suburb" begun in the 1890 – but was not completed until the 1950’s. The result is an architectural mix of Dilworth homes. In general, many of the earlier homes in the northern portion were large upper-class residence; whereas, the homes on the south side were all small and middle-class.

Not only does Dilworth have historic Charlotte homes, Dilworth is a designated Historic District. For renovations to qualifying homes in the district, homeowners are eligible for state tax credits.

Today's Dilworth homes...

..are some of Charlotte’s most desired and not just the Dilworth Road, Berkeley Avenue or Liganore Place mansions. The lovingly restored bungalows of Dilworth have become somewhat symbolic of the entire community… while the smaller less expensive frame bungalows have attracted a younger hip crowd. In addition to the fine collection of older homes, Dilworth now has a large number of newer condos & townhomes.

Dilworth Real Estate

Life was not always a bed of roses for Dilworth real estate. This beautiful neighborhood suffered many years of deterioration & blight before its residents rose to defend it in the 1960’s… creating the Dilworth Community Development Association (DCDA). By that time major inroads of commercial rezoning had taken place. Since the creation of DCDA, residents have fiercely fought to maintain the integrity of Dilworth real estate… even obtaining the Historic District designation.

Running through the center of Dilworth is East Boulevard, which along with Park Road & Morehead Street, has been a magnet for dining, office & retail for over fifty years.

And now, at Dilworth’s western edge is the popular restored area known as Historic South End.... loaded with shops, restaurants and businesses devoted to design. Its refurbished textile mills provide interesting Dilworth real estate for development & make it a trendy locale. Loads of new condos & townhomes complement this booming commercial development. The development of Historic South End was given a boost with the commencement of service of Charlotte’s first light rail service through the area.

Dilworth is a close-knit family of residents whose annual celebrations include Dilworth Jubilee and the Dilworth Home Tour. And each fall, one of the largest Charlotte festivals takes place in the heart of Dilworth on East Boulevard - the Yiasou Greek Festival.
