Weddington Homes for Sale

The town of Weddington and the village, Wesley Chapel, offer quiet, green living and low taxes conveniently located between larger towns and the city of Charlotte. This provides residents with a perfect blend of peace and opportunity.

 Weddington and Wesley Chapel boast:

  • quiet, green neighborhoods
  • popular schools
  • low taxes
  • close proximity to more opportunities in other towns and cities
  • enough businesses, shopping, and restaurants to meet your needs close to home
  • a park with impressive variety

Both Weddington and Wesley Chapel are very new, Weddington became incorporated in 1983 and Wesley Chapel in 1998. The land was lived on and Charlotte wanted to claim it, but the residents wanted to keep the area more rural, quiet, and green. This is now an excellent protected place to maintain small town safety and peace while remaining close enough to Charlotte to enjoy the variety and opportunities it offers. Matthews and Ballantyne are also close, providing more opportunities and convenience.

One of the state's most popular school districts serves Weddington and Wesley Chapel.

Located in Union County, both places can offer lower taxes than the rest of the Charlotte area.

These may be small towns with rural atmosphere, but they also provide enough shopping opportunities to have their own Harris Teeters, Target, a variety of restaurants, and shopping centers full of brand names and specialty stores. What Weddington and Wesley Chapel can't offer in themselves, residents can find very close by in Blakeney, Matthews, and Ballantyne in the form of the most popular brand name stores.

Dogwood Park in Wesley Chapel offers a dog park, grills, fishing (with a handicapped accessible pier), an amphitheater, both paved and unpaved trails for walking and biking, and a free library.

Weddington Optimist Park provides lighted t-ball, softball, baseball, football, and soccer fields as well as a volleyball court, batting cages, a playground, a walking trail, a gazebo with grilling facilities, and a building for events with concession stands.

Choose Weddington or Wesley Park to enjoy the peace of quiet, rural life with low taxes and easy access to the wealth of opportunities larger cities offer. Search our homes in Weddington and Wesley Chapel to find the perfect home for you.

Weddington homes have offered Charlotte residents an alternative to city life for many years even though the town was not incorporated until 1983. Weddington was incorporated to maintain its rural atmosphere…and to avoid probable annexation by Charlotte. That desire for the rural lifestyle was reinforced by requiring all Weddington home sites to be at least one acre in size.

In time the factors of close proximity to Charlotte and large lots… plus great schools and beautiful country side resulted in valuable property and expensive homes.

Weddington still has a rural flavor as one travels the country roads between subdivisions; however the Weddington homes within the subdivisions are anything but rural. The town boosts a collection of some of the region’s finest houses and communities…most built since 1990. Moreover, Weddington is said to have the highest per capital income in North Carolina. The prices for Weddington houses start about $500,000 and go to several million dollars.

Weddington Real Estate

Weddington real estate is almost all residential… only 27 acres of the towns total acreage of 11,044 is zoned commercial. And it is all located at the intersection of NC 16 and NC 84 – aptly called Town Center. Town Center consists of a few retail shops and medical & office buildings…plus Weddington Town Hall located in the historic Thomas Wrenn house, circa 1894. No other Weddington real estate gives a hint of being in a town.

NC 16 is the main artery for most of the traffic from Charlotte south to Waxhaw and beyond. NC 84 or Weddington Road is the major east-west road connecting a great deal of Weddington real estate. It continues through Wesley Chapel to Monroe, the Union County seat.

Weddington has almost 16 square miles of land and approximately 11,000 people for a very low population density. In traversing the town’s roads or studying a map, it is clear that the 1983 vision of the local leaders is being realized. There is a much vacant Weddington real estate that is likely to stay that way for a long time…if not forever.

Weddington School :: Weddington Elementary

Union County public schools are widely considered some of the best in the Charlotte area…and the Weddington schools are said to be at or near the top. The Weddington Cluster of elementary schools include Weddington Elementary, Antioch Elementary and Wesley Chapel Elementary. The Weddington elementary schools feed into Weddington Middle and then into Weddington High School.

In addition to the Union County public schools, there are several private schools in the Weddington area, including Weddington Christian Academy, Chesterbrook Academy and Arborbrook Christian Academy.

All Weddington home buyers with children in school are advised to conduct their own research into potential schools before buying a home. This should include a visit to the school(s), in addition an analysis of all available information. The NC School Report Card provides an excellent picture of a school’s ranking in the state and district.
